Brent
Bernard B. “lake" Brent of Hyattsville, Md. died Aug. 20 in Arlington Hospital. He was a native of Rappahannock County, the son of the late Henry F. and Mattie V. Brent
He entered the U.S. Air Force in 1951 and distinguished himself in combat duty in Korea and served four tours of duty in Vietnam. He retired in 1972 after more than 20 years of honorable service. He was a member of American Legion Chesapeake Post 127 and of the Disabled American Veterans.
Survivors include his widow, Dorothy L. Brent of Hyattsville; two sons, Eric B. and Shaun A. Brent; a daughter Renee Y. Brent; a step-son, Ronald P. Johnson, all of Hyattsville; and a son from a previous marriage, Bernard D. Brent of Front Royal; and one granddaughter.
Also surviving are three sisters, Pearl B. Clarke of Amissville, Mildred B. Eld ridge of Arlington and Hilda V. Lawson, Rixeyville; and a brother, Cleveland A. Brent of Culpeper.
Following a service Aug. 25 at the Isle of Patmos Baptist Church in Washington, D. C., he was buried with military honors in Arlington National Cemetery.
