In his explanation to Marx, Robertson mentioned that Douglas has elected to serve as his own legal counsel.
“Is that going to be allowed?” Marx interjected.
“The court has no choice,” Robertson said, noting that he would prefer that Douglas be represented by a lawyer and has appointed attorneys for him during legal proceedings over the past two years.
Commonwealth’s attorney Douglas Baumgardner assured Marx that as prosecutor, he would raise objections to any irrelevant questions posed by the defendant.
