employed people will be due benefits that were withheld for 1978, 1979, or 1980.

“We cannot identify the people affected by this change in the law,” Hundley said. Therefore, anyone who thinks he or she may be affected should get in touch with the Culpeper Social Security Office, located at 522 Culpeper Shopping Center. The person should bring his or her selfemployment tax returns for 1978, 1979, or 1980 and any other information available.

With this information, social security can decide if any back benefits are due. If benefits are due, they will be paid after the decision is made. This change in the law does not affect any tax liability. It applies only to earnings for the annual earnings test.

Anyone having questions about this change in the law should contact the Culpeper Social Security Office. The telephone number is (703) 825-3500.
