Drops Again
In June, the latest month for which Virginia figures are available, gasoline consumption in the state dropped 3.6 percent below the level recorded in June 1980. Gasoline consumption in June was at its lowest level since the 1974-75 period following the Arab oil embargo.
The combined forces of comparatively higher prices and switching to more fuelefficient cars account for most of the continued decline.
In July. nationwide gasoline deliveries continued to decline, dropping 4.1 percent below_ the corresponding 1980 period.
