At the local mass meeting Monday night at the court house, Rappahannock Democrats elected five delegates to the party’s 18th legislative district convention to be held September 3 in Front Royal.
Chosen as uncommitted delegates were Douglas Baumgardner, Diane Bruce, Carson Johnson, Charles C. Lewis and Truman Keesey.
Richard S. Catron, Page County supervisor who is seeking the Democratic nomination as delegate from the new 18th district, addressed the mass meeting.
The new 18th district created by Virginia’s 1981 House redistricting plan is comprised of Page, Warren, Clarke' and Rappahannock counties. As the only declared candidate. Citron is virtually assured of fanning the Democratic nontination for the seat and will face Republican incumbent Raymond R. Guest, Jr. in the November election.
