In response to a question, Hogye noted that the SWCB has the power to require jurisdictions to build new facilities to meet water standards provided the water control board is able to offer grant funds. “I don’t really see us taking any enforcement action at this point in Sperryville...The local support is there, the local commitment is there so I think we can move forward on this project.”
The WSA members and SWCB representatives agreed on September 10 as a tentative date for the Richmond meeting.
“We need to give a strong signal to the water control board before its September meeting on whether we’re going to fish or cut bait,” Dennis said. “I hope we decide to fish.”
