The environmental assessment for a general management plan and its summary for Shenandoah National Park has been released and distributed by the Park Service.
The assessment contains several alternatives or choices for the natural and cultural resource management, visitor use and interpretation, and development of the park for the next decade. “Many ideas described and assessed were obtained from the public during preplanning activities started in 1978,” said Superintendent Robert Jacobsen.
The environmental assessment or its summary is being distributed to more than 1,000 citizens, agencies, and officials on the park mailing list. If any interested persons do not receive a copy, they should contact the Park in Luray, Virginia. “While we have only a limited number of copies of the full, approximately 250-page, assessment,” Jacobsen offered, “there should be a sufficient number of copies of the 12-page Summary for all
