Nine Rappahannock band students scored high marks from the judges in the district Solo and Ensemble Festival held last Saturday in Purcellville at the Blue Ridge Middle School.
The youngsters were evaluated on individual merit according to how well they performed their prepared solo with the judges adding constructive comments aimed for future improvements. Categories scored included technique, position, interpretation and musical effect. Ratings of I (superior), II (excellent) and III (average) were awarded with medals given out for superior and excellent ratings. All the students from Rappahannock played beginning selections and were accompanied by Judy Bomberger. The instrumental music program is directed by Robin Dexter.
