The annual Junior-Senior Prom will be held this week at RCHS.
Every year it is the responsibility of the juniors to host a formal prom for the outgoing seniors. This is usually a very successful event and we are sure this year will be no exception.
The junior class is taking an inventive approach for 1982’s affair with students creating their own decorations. The murals to cover the walls of the gymnasium are various scenes painted with acrylic paints on tyvex paper. In order to keep the secret until Saturday, April 24, the scenes and the theme prom cannot be releaseo.
Last Thursday students had the opportunity to discover their blood type and be examined for sickle cell and nutritional anemia. This service was offered by the Howard University Medical Center of Washington, D. C., under sponsorship of the Rappahannock Unit of the American Cancer Society.
The Lions Gub will be conducting interviews for students who applied to become Summer Youth Exchange Students. The youth chosen for this experience may elect to stay in one of the many countries in Europe. The Lions Club will also donate S500 to the trip.
Production of the spring play. The Music Man, is well underway. This year students in the play will come from both the elementary and high schools.
At this time the cast is doing the interpretation part of their practices. Interpretation is teaching the actors how to speak their lines fluently and in the proper dialect. Mr. Bomberger reports that so far, play practices are running smoothly and that the play is really beginning to take shape.
