The 880 relay team ot Jen Porter, Carl Frye, Glenn Fletcher and Eugene Grigsby posted a time of 1:39.8 for their first win, a performance that Coaches Spieker and Bill Child expect will be repeated as the season progresses. “That win seemed to bring all the boys together,” Spieker noted.

Grigsby and Porter finished first and second in the 100 yard dash in 10.5 and 11.1 seconds while Jimmy Freeman and John Shanahan tied for second in the high hurdles in 19 seconds. First and second place points also were awarded to

RCHS for Grigsby’s and Fletcher's performances in the 220 with times of 24.5 and 25 8 seconds.

In distance events, Scott Keithley was third in the mile (4:54.7) and second in the two mile (10:52). “Scott is coming back after a week’s lay-off due to an illness," Child reported.

Other points for Rappahannock came from Shanahan's and Freeman's second and third place finishes in the hurdles. Larry Sisk’s second in the 880 and Ronnie Atkins' third in the two mile run.
