Sport* < iorrrspondt'n* The Stonewall Jackson Generals overwhelmed the Rappahannock Panthers, 122, last Friday at Mt. Jackson. "We had to play under the lights for the first time this year and it really gave us problems.” said Coach Glen Davis in his only post game remarks. The Generals combined for nine hits compared to seven hits for the Panthers. The ten run difference came mainly through faulty defense on the part of the Panthers who committed 12 errors. Leading hitter for RCHS was Wayne Atkins (2-3). Mike Leake was lagged as the losing pitcher after the game was called in the sixth inning under the ten run slaughter rule.
In a home game this Tuesday, April 20, the Panthers put on an outstanding performance in the batter’s box but it wasn't enough to overcome William Monroe’s Dragons as RCHS lost 11-7.
The defeat drop the Panthers’ record to one win versus two losses in Skyline District competition.
The boys from Rappahannock outhit the Dragons, connecting for 12 hits in seven innings. Shortstop Pops Aylor had a super afternoon, getting four hits in four times at bat. He was credited with one triple, one double and two singles. Rusty Settle also had a good day at the plate with two hits in three times at bat.
