Our Huntsman, Jim Atkins, having grown up foxhunting in our section of Virginia, has developed into a mature, zestful and knowledgeable huntsman, attuned to his hounds and industrious in the management of the kennels and the territory. Our professional Whippers-in, Leroy Ryan and K. T. Atkins, are skillful performers who have become a tuned-in team with the huntsman.
Further, the Old Dominion territory is still agricultural and scopy, providing a natural environment for strong red foxes.
During cubbing season, starting Sept. 2, hounds went out 25 times. The new entry blended in with alacrity owing to fortunate breeding and conscientious summer talking. The pace of cubbing hunts became so speedy and sustained, the
