Probably it was a gremlin that added an extra zero to the “additional county risk” figure in last week’s article on the Sperryville sewage treatment project. The fact is that, if the numbers and assumptions provided by our engineers and the State Water Control Board prove accurate, the additional risk would be $1,818. It was that small figure, coupled with the certain loss of federal construction grant money if we fall behind schedule, that prompted the Water and Sewer Authority to authorize final design work.
The Authority wishes to assure the Rappahannock community that it would have consulted with the Board of Supervisors before such authorization if the additional risk figure presented to us had been at the level given in last week’s Rappahannock News article,
