Last fall, a small number of local people began to meet under the auspices of a national group called the Compassionate Friends.
There were no dues, no long-term commitments — just a bond of grief and loneliness and a wish to help each other survive and heal. These were parents who had had a child die.
Now in its fifth month, the local chapter of Compassionate Friends is hoping to reach others in the area who might find comfort in its common bond.
