Frances Lyne and Cleo Louis will chair the American Cancer Society’s educational and fundraising Cancer Crusade slated to begin April 4 in Rappahannock County.
The Rappahannock unit believes that with Lyne and Louis leading this year’s Crusade, the unit’s goals and aims will be reached.
Here in Rappahannock, the goal will be to raise $3,300. Equally important will be the life saving information that Cancer Crusaders will be bringing to neighbors, friends and other citizens during their house[ to-house solicitations.
Frances Lyne, co-leader of local volunteers this year, is enthusiastically devoted to the cause of cancer control. Lyne emphasized that now is a crucial time for contributing since there is so much hope that a cure lies just around the corner.
She referred to a recent » article in the Richmond Times-Dispatch that quoted Lewis Thomas, chancellor of the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New 1 York, as looking for “the enfl' • of cancer before this century is over” and predicting that i “it could begin to fall into place at almost any time.”
