Harold Voyd Brown, 39, Box 118, Syria, was sentenced Monday in Rappahannock County Circuit Court to 15 years in the state penitentiary for the murder of Aurelious Worth Timmons last June 7. The sentence was the result of a plea agreement reached with Rappahannock County Commonwealth Attorney Peter Luke.

In exchange for the Commonwealth’s recommendation of a 13year sentence on a second-degree murder charge and an additional two-year sentence on a charge of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, Brown pleaded guilty to both charges.

Mr. Timmons was struck in the right side of the neck and head with one blast from a 12gauge shotgun as he stood on the front porch of his home on Rt. 231, 2.2 miles north of the Madison County line. He was pronounced dead a short time after being transported to Culpeper Memorial HospitaTby the Washington VFD Advanced Life Support Unit.
