On December 7, 1941, the Coast Guard Cutter Roger B. Taney, at Berth 6 in Honolulu Harbor, stood up to Japanese bombers and went on to serve the United States faithfully for 50 more years. On December 7, 1986, in an impressive and touching ceremony, she was decommissioned at Portsmouth, Virginia.
