the cost of building the USS Taney with the costs of shipbuilding today, Mr. Pond said that the cutter had given the country a great "bang for its buck,” and that she truly deserved the Navy’s highest accolade, “Well done.”
Mr. Pond’s remarks were well received by those present, including Corinne Taney Marks, who christened the ship in 1936, other members of the Taney family, current and past officers and members of the crew, and Rear Admiral Bobby F. Hollingsworth, Commander, Fifth Coast Guard District.
