The Rappahannock Association for Arts in the Community (RAAC) will present Sugar Hill recording artists Trapezoid in concert with multi-instrumentalist Howard Levy on Sunday, Feb. 8, at 7:30 p.m. at the Gay St. Theatre in Washington. Now based in Rappahannock, the group has packed the Gay Street Theater at each appearance.
Trapezoid has been praised as the “finest folk group in the country” by The Washington Post for its rich blend of acoustic sounds and the haunting vocals, of Lorraine Duisit and Freyda Epstein. The band’s music cuts across many borders, drawing freely from music from many places, styles and eras. “There is a quality of timelessness about their blending of old sounds to contemporary themes,” said the Oakland (Calif.) Tribune. “If ever a band has succeeded in merging old and new worlds, Trapezoid is the one.”
