The CDI program provides intensive supervision of nonvwlent offenders, who are allowed to remain out of jail only as long as they obey the strict conditions of their probation. In addition, they must fulfill a community service requirement, as well as make payment of fines and restitution.
Judge Robertson, while acknowledging the benefits of the CDI program, said that “I do not find a basis for CDI in this case . . . The court finds that your debt to society is greater than that.”
Judge Robertson then pronounced sentence. He added that "You are a young man with a promising fbture - a good work record, a supportive family - and the court has confidence that after you have
served your time you will be a useful member of the community.”
