Eating calcium-rich foods is one of the best ways to maintain strong and healthy bones. The recommended dietary allowance of calcium is 800 milligrams each day. Women may want tq consume slightly higher amounts. Osteoporosis affects more than 15 million Americans, but it doesn’t have to. Begin preventing osteoporosis today. Tomorrow there is no cure. Following are recipes to help in planning well-balanced diets and nutrition.
Fresh fruit dip 1 package (3-3/4 oz.) instant vanilla pudding mix. l£2tsp. cinnamon 1/2 tsp. nutmeg 2 cups milk 1 cup dairy sour cream In blender combine milk, spices and pudding mix. Blend well. Add sour cream and blend. Chill at least 2 hours before serving. For dipping, serve with an assortment of fresh fruits such as strawberries, apples, pears, bananas and pineapple wedges. Cheese delight 1 small pkg. lime Jello 1V6 c. boiling water 1 small can crushed pineapple 1 small carton cottage cheese 4 oz. grated cheese (longhorn or cheddar) 1/4 c. chopped celery 1/4 c. chopped nuts Combine Jello with boiling water. Let cool until syrupy. Combine remaining ingredients. Blend well. Pour into mold or 8 inch square dish. Easy quiche lorraine 1/2 cup coarsely grated Swiss cheese 9 inch baked pastry shell 4 eggs IVz tbsp. cut chives IVt cups cottage cheese 1/3 cup Half and Half lVfetsp. salt 1/8 tsp. pepper Sprinkle grated Swiss cheese over bottom of baked pastry shell. Combine chives with cottage cheese. Add eggs and beat until mixture is smooth. Add Half and Half, salt and pepper; beat until blended. Pour into pastry shell. Bake in moderate .oven, 350 degrees, 40 to 45 minutes or until a silver knife inserted in center of pie comes out clean. Cool slightly before serving. 6 to 8 servings.
