Acceding to the supervisors’ request, the Rappahannock School Board has eliminated the position of special services coordinator, the central office administrator responsible for overseeing special education, Chapter I and gifted and talented programs.
The action came late last Thursday night as the board worked to absorb $213,234 cut from the proposed 1987-88 budget by the supervisors.
In the face of declining school enrollment and what they viewed as a top-heavy administration, the supervisors had indicated they wanted to see the coordinator’s job abolished and the three-part duties divided between building and central office administrators. Accordingly, they reduced the total for the instructional category by $70,843, suggesting
