Jack Atkins
Jack Smith Atkins, 67, of Front Royal, died May 22 in Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Atkins was born May 23, 1919, in Sperryville, a son of the late Charles Burner and Eunice Clater Atkins. He was a retired truck driver and served in the U.S. Army in World War II.
Surviving are one brother, Ned W. Atkins of Linden; four sisters, Cindy Cooper, Lucy Strother and Mary Frances Gaston, all of Front Royal and Virginia Heflin of Linden.
A funeral was conducted May 25 at the Tumer-Robertshaw Funeral Home, Front Royal, by the Rev. Harvey Skinner. Burial was in Prospect Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers wre Bobby Heflin, Lynn Heflin, Joe Heflin, Skip Atkins, Jerry Atkins and Chuck Cooper.
Honorary pallbearers were C.D. Strother, Kevin Heflin, Junior Dawson, Wayne Heflin, William Hudson and Irvin Vermillion,
Bertie Scott
Bertie Mariah Scott, 85, of Castleton, died May 25, at the Culpeper Memorial Hospital. She was the daughter of the late John C. and Sallie Settle Compton.
She was a native of Rappahannock County and had lived in Castleton.
Mrs. Scott was a member of the Goordivine Baptist Church and her father was a member of John S. Mosby Rangers.
Survivors include her husband, Clarence D. Scott of Castleton; two daughters, Mrs. Gail Doggett and Mrs. Joan Roberts, both of Culpeper; five sons, Elvis D. Scott,
