To the editor
That’s the title that’s been given to me by one of the NOT SO OUTSTANDING in the Castleton Community on Hope Hill. I LIKE IT. It’s got a certain ring to it, don’t you think? You ask, how did I get such a prestigious title? Well, for doing such a good job in reporting the NOT SO OUTSTANDING to the Sheriff’s Department. This made them mad. So, when they speak of me, it’s “The Mayor.”
Why would I bother to report such outstanding members of our community? Let me tell you and you be the judge in determining the authenticity of my actions.
You’re sitting at home relaxing after a hard day’s work or you’re all snuggled up in bed sound asleep and, hark! You hear that old familar sound: The Indianapolis Speedway.
There goes the green flag. They’re off! Look at those cars go, swerving back and forth, burning rubber, smoke rolling from the tires, throwing gravel, digging up the earth dn the side of the road. The cat runs for her life, the dog leaps onto the back porch, everyone jumps up and runs to the window or the door to see who the winner will be or if they will wreck or kill someone this time.
We hold our breath. Is it over or will they be back? It can be guaranteed, they will be back. Maybe not that same day but another day.
They know “The Mayor” is going to call the Sheriff’s Department so they make their one run and then run and hide, knowing the Sheriff’s Department will soon arrive. Such bravery.
And who performs my duties as “Mayor” when I’m away? My little “Mayorettes,” of course. And where is the man of the house when all of this is taking place? At work, of course. This is the pattern of the
