for Parks and Rec *

Registration for the Fauquier County Parks and Recreation Department’s summer programs begins June 1 and ends June 17.

County residents returning to a continuining program may register with special priority from May 21 through June 1. Only county residents may register through June 1 through 17. County residents and non county residents may register June 10 through 17.

Participants may register by mail or in person at the Parks and Rec offices, 62 Culpeper Street, Warrenton, 22186.

summer trips

The Fauquier County Parks and Recreation Department has several summer trips planned to suit eveiy fancy. Scheduled for Sat., Jun. 13 is an excursion to the Shenandoah Valley to visit the Grand Caverns Regional Park including a return trip along the scenic Skyline Drive. On Sun., Jun. 21, fathers can be treated to a Baltimore Orioles baseball game as they play the Detroit Tigers.

A historical trip to Jamestown and Yorktown is on the itinerary for Sat., Jul. 11. Then, on Sat., Jul. 25, spend an eqjoyable day at Baltimore Inner Harbour.

The Department is planning to spend Wed., Aug 5 at King’s Dominion for Playground Day. Children can eqjoy Yogi Bear, the Smurfs, and all the other attractions, including the new racing drivers. Children will also eryoy the trip to the National Zoo on Sat., Aug. 15.

See the award-winning Broadway musical, “Cats,” at the National Theatre on Sun., Aug. 30. Parks and Recreation has arranged for mezzanine seating and the registration deadline is in middle June, so don’t miss the opportunity to see this play.
