If you have a child in Special Education, you probably have a long list of questions concerning his or her future life. What does the future hold after school? Will he/she be capable of living and working in the community? What is available in the schools? What is available in the community? How can he/she be learning skills now? What can I do to help both my child and his/her teachers?
You, as a parent, have a wealth of valuable information to share with your son’s or daughter’s teachers. You have been and will continue to be an important member of the education team involved with your ehild. You are providers of unique information, role models, case managers, risk takers, financial planners and advocates of career education programs.
You are important. But it is not always easy to recognize your particular knowledge or to use it effectively.
