The July meeting of the Rappahannock County Garden Club was held beneath centuries-old white oaks at the Amissville home of Jane Peterson.
Member Exhibits by the members were based on the theme of “Simple Summer Supper,” utilizing aJ>asket or a hat. Blue ribbons were presented to Dot Estes, Kathy Knuepfer and Edna Metzinger for their winning entries.
Taking center stage for the program was Cheri Woodard of Faith Mountain Herbs and Antiques in Sperryville who demonstrated how to make tussie-mussies with fresh herbs. Identifying each of the fragrant herbs used, Cheri fashioned one of the nosegays that were so popular in nineteenth century Victorian England.
It was announced that Dick Cook, Executive Director of the State Air Pollution Control Board will participate in the Environmental Education Workshop to be held at the 4-H Center, in Front Royal, fispm Sept. 8-11.
