Slack's art in
regional show
Rex Slack, of Washington, is among seven Southeastern artists whose work is on display at the Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
The show, entitled “Lilliputians,” is an exhibition of three-dimensional miniature creations; small buildings and tiny scenes, both realistic and surrealistic, which are reminiscient of the Isle of Lilliput in the classic Gulliver's Travels.
Mr. Slack’s creations which were selected for the show’ include “Birdie’s Beer and Burgers,” a miniature honky-tonk beer joint complete with lights, signs and Hank Williams music emanating from within. Mr. Slack said that when the observer peers through the tiny windows, figures can be seen inside playing the pinball machine and eating at the counter.
