To the editor
A number of years ago I wrote, based on my interpretation of the ancient Chinese prophecy, Tui Pei Tu, that in 1988 Taiwan and Mainland China “. . . put aside their differences and joined together for the first time.” Fat chance then!
Today an article in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin, under the headline, “Taiwan Opens Door to Mainland China,” says that the “ruling (Taiwanese) Nationalist party, in a major policy shift, on Tuesday announced that it would allow Taiwan industrialists to invest in China; the trade volume will rise by leaps and bounds next year in Peking, China welcomed Taipei’s decision.”
Close enough for a cigar, I think. The basic message of this ancient prophecy keeps coming through, as I have reported here from time to time.
Next year should see some sort of peace summit, or at least a cry for “peace and security.” Japan will become more militant, but will be made to regret its actions (even though it hears these words it will make no difference)! There should be lawsuits and hearings over the matter.
The following year (1990) “lower level bureaucrats” bring about a halt to continuing Japanese investment in the USA (“It is not for me to give the land away”). Also during this time top officials will be involved in a long-term bribery scandal. We'will learn why our laws are so favorable
