The rape of Rt. 630 is not an exaggeration!
Cathy Riley’s letter last week tells the tale very clearly. Anyone living along this county’s tree-lined lanes, and desiring to keep them, should visit now this stretch of devastation which the Virginia Department of Transportation has made of Rt. 630.
Ironically this "improvement” does not appear on the “six-year plan” in County Administrator John McCarthy’s office. Perhaps other funds are tapped when the Department sees fit to do so, thereby avoiding confrontation with concerned residents.
Should you read in the Rappahannock News that “paving and widening” is planned for your road, your calm complacency may cost you the surrounding beauty. To keep our Rappahannock heritage, changes will have to be made in the way this
