The U.S. Department of Agriculture has issued a final rule governing the procedures for conducting the 1988 Pork Referendum as authorized by the Pork Promotion and Research Act of 1985. The referendum voting will be conducted at County Extension Offices during normal business hours on Sept. 7 and 8. Eligible individuals will vote at the Rappahannock County office of the Virginia Cooperative Extension Service on either of those two dates.

Producers and importers unable to vote in person may request an absentee ballot by writing or visiting Pork Referendum State Extension Coordinator, A. L. Eller Jr., at 302 Animal Sciences Building, VPI&SU, Blacksburg, VA 24061-0306. Absentee ballots will be available from Aug. 1 until close of business on Aug. 26.
