ARB meeting postponed

Washington’s Architectural Review Board will not hold its regular scheduled meeting this week. The meeting will be held on Thursday, Aug. 4 at 8 p.m. at the courthouse.

‘Tampopo’

The movie Tampopo will be playing at the Gay Street Theater on Saturday and Sunday, July 30 and 31 at 7:30 p.m. each evening. Japanese director Juzo Itami has produced an engaging witty hybrid, brilliantly stir-fiying Japanese food and other obsessions into cowboy themes. (He calls Tampopo a noodle western). The plot is simple - a tall, dark, cowboy-hatted stranger named Goro transforms an ordinary noodle shop owner named Tampopo into the queen of her noble profession. Tampopo’s potluck structure continually spins off into parodies, vignettes, digressions, and assorted tasty situations, all related to food in some way and always returning to the amusing tale of Goro and Tampopo. Japanese with English subtitles. Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for children.

Ride with RAAC to Redskins

The only pre-season home exhibition game for the Redskins is the destination of the RAAC bus trip on Friday, Aug. 5. The ticket price for the Redskin-Stealer game includes the game,' the bus ride and an on-the-road beverage. Tickets, at $35 each, are going fast, so send a check today to hold a place. Flint Hill Carnival Aug. 3-6

Flint Hill firemen’s carnival will be held August 3-6. On Wednesday night you can ride from opening to closing for $4. Parade will be held on Thursday beginning at 6:30 p.m. Box suppers will be available. Anyone wishing to participate in the parade is urged to call Moe Walker at 675-3441.
