Exercise helps

arthritis

victims

Arthritis is a chronic disease which affects the joints, often making the most simple movement excurciatingly painfiil. But, according to the Arthritis Foundation, even people who suffer from arthritis can benefit from proper exercise.

A spokesman said that People With Arthritis can Exercise (PACE) is an exercise program designed for victims of this debilitating disease. It provides gentle motion and activities to help increase joint flexibility, range of motion and maintain muscle strength.

PACE is available on videotape at either the beginner’s level (I) or for those more advanced (Level II). The foundation stresses that the patient’s physician should be consulted before beginning this, or any other, exercise program.

For more information about PACE or about arthritis in general, contact the Mills Branch of the Virginia Arthritis Foundation, Rt. 6, Box 83, Warrenton, Va., 22186, or call (703) 347-2465. <
