Their concern for the safety of the county’s students has been tempered by an understanding of the difficult situation which victims of AIDS face. The stigma and discrimination they endure is unimaginable to most people. And they endure it knowing that there is little hope of a cure and, ultimately, they will die.
Whether the county’s approach will be successful has yet to be determined. We hope that it will never be tested.
But if it becomes necessary, the School Board has attempted to protect the rights of everyone involved.
