The dual-laning of Rt. 211 isn’t the only road work generating controversy in Rappahannock County this week. The recent clearing of big oak trees from a widened right-ofway and the paving of the road surface for Rt. 630 has sparked afterthe-fact protests from the hollow behind Foster Brothers Packing Shed.

The Bear Wallow residents were surprised by the highway crews, and then angered when the Rt. 630 project didn’t show up on the county’s six-year road plan hanging on the wall in County Administrator John McCarthy’s office.
