Supervisors agree to dunking

The Flint Hill Firemen's Carnival, which runs through Saturday, Aug. 6, announced that three members of the county's Board of Supervisors have agreed to take a turn in the carnival's dunking tank. On Thursday, Nelson Lane will mount the platform, on Friday, Hampton's representative Mike Massie will take the plunge, and Saturday evening the board's chairman, Hubert Gilkey of Chester Gap will challenge the budding pitchers. The carnival will feature its Firemen's Parade Thursday, Aug. 4, led by Miss Virginia, April Fleming.

Alarm file updated Sheriff John Henry Woodward asks that anyone whose property is protected by automatic burglar alarms contact the Sheriff's Department (675-3331,675-3332) to make sure that the information about the property and its location which is on file at the dispatch office is correct. Sheriff Woodward said the request was prompted by several recent incidents in which responses were delayed because current information was not on file at the department. He added that an emergency telephone number would also be helpful.
