Hawkes
Rev. George N. Hawkes, 59, died July 27 at Fauquier Hospital, Warrenton. He was the son of the late Thomas William and Lucille Butler Adams Hawkes.
He served as a deacon at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, Upperville for 27 years and was ordained a minister in 1979. His last pastorate was Olive Branch Baptist Church in Haymarket.
For more than 45 years Rev. Hawkes was employed by Mr. C. O. Iselin of Middleburg.
He was affiliated with Northern Virginia Ministers, Deacon and Layman Union, Lott Carey Baptist Foreipi Mission Convention, Northern Virginia Baptist Association, Marshall Bible Institute,auquier Community Action, Odd Fellows and Boy Scouts of America.
He is survived by his wife Jennie, a son George Jr., his daughterin-law Martha and two grandchildren Matthew and Christopher.
He also leaves a brother John Hawkes of South Orange, N. J., three sisters Lena Murray of Capitol Heights, Md., Flora Greene of Clinton, Md. and Mary Williams of Greenbelt, Md., and two aunts Louise Adams and Mary Jane Jackson.
The Rev. Norman W. Smith and Rev. Carter Alsberry officiated with interment at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Rectortown on July 30.
