Park prepares lor Hoover Days

Camp Hoover, the weekend retreat of President Herbert Hoover located in Shenandoah National Park, will be open to v the public this weekend, Aug. 6 and 7. During the annual "Hoover Days" l- celebration, which is held on the weekend nearest the late president's Aug. 10 birthday, the retreat is open for tours. Normally, the buildings are reserved for VIP visits. Transportation to Camp Hoover will depart from the Harry F. Byrd Visitors Center at Milepost 51 on the Skyline Drive, from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Specially guided hikes to the camp will leave at 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. each day. Hikers should wear sturdy footwear for the threemile hike and be prepared for rain.

Slaughter’s rep here Aug. 10

Congressman D. French Slaughter Jr. will send his district jepresentative, Jane Clatterbuck, to Rappahannock County on Wednesday, Aug. 10.
