Spaghetti dinner Dec. 8
On Thursday Dec. 8, the Rappahannock County Elementary School will hold its annual spaghetti dinner from 5-7:30 p.m. Tickets are now on sale: $5 adults, all you can eat; $4 adults, single serving; $3 children under 10. Tickets are now available for the door prizes, which include dinner for two at The Inn at Little Washington, a night with breakfast at the Schoolhouse Bed and Breakfast in Flint Hill, a television and a ham. Proceeds from the dinner will benefit the seventh grade’s trip to Williamsburg. The class will also be selling pizzas this week, also to benefit the trip. RCES Christmas program
The Rappahannock County Elementary School will present its nual Christmas program on Thursday, Dec. 8 beginning at 7:30 p.m. The program will feature the school’s Select Chorus, under the direction of Kathy Oshanky, leading the cast of “Santa and the Snowmobile.” Following the play the RCES band, directed by David Orth, will entertain with Christmas selections.
Extension teleconference
The Virginia Extension Service is sponsoring a teleconference on Multi-Peril Crop Insurance on Thursday, Dec. 8 from 1-2:30 p.m. Central Standard Time (noon-1:30 p.m. EST). “Risk Management Strategies Using MPCI” will focus on describing the program and explaining how farmers can use crop insurance to protect their equity and cash flow position. It will also describe the requirements of the program. The program may be seen at the Culpeper Extension Office, the Northern Virginia 4-H Center outside Front Royal, and the District Extension Office in Warrenton. Sheep Assoc, dinner
The Piedmont Sheep Producers Association will hold its Annual Christmas Dinner at the War Memorial Building in Madison on Friday, Dec. 16. The public is invited and everyone is asked to bring a covered dish. Plan to be there by 6:30 p.m. There will be a slide presentation by National Geographic photographer Jon Golden of a New Zealand sheep “muster.” For information contact Sharon Ferrenoe (703) 547-2059.
Make your own gingerbread house
Ann Kolack of The Village Cafe is offering a class on how to create this speical holiday treat on Tuesday, Dec. 13 from 5 to 9:30 p.m. Gingerbread, candies, icing and all the accessories you need to take home a completed gingerbread house will be provided, as well as how to instructions so that you may continue this holiday tradition year after year. The fee is $35. Enrollment is limited so please call The Cafe at 675-3877 by Friday, Dec. 9 to reserve your space.
