BLACKSBURG — This year’s Virginia Gardener Calendar is now available free for the gardening consumer.
Published by Virginia Cooperative Extension, the 15-month calendar features information on nutrient management and its impact on water quality.
Specific subjects include understanding fertilizers, erosion control, enhancing lawn health, tilling the soil, fertilizing a vegetable garden, irrigation, reducing the effects of drought, improving soil, protecting soil in the winter, soil testing, uses for leaves, winterizing trees and shrubs and other helpful topics.
The calendar also contains many comprehensive garden notes each month.
Production of the calendar was funded by a grant from the Virginia Soil and Water Conservation service.
