Fall leaf watch Leaf colors are beginning to turn in the higher elevations, according to Janet ' Stombock, who works in the naturalist's ^ office at Shenandoah National Park. She ? said that reports from the park's southern district, near Waynesboro, indicate that >,K parts of the mountains are already firey red. In the northern district, Ms. Stambock said * that colors should be beautiful during the next 10 days to two weeks, depending on wind and rain conditions. Colors, of ■ course, are more intense at the higher elevations, with trees at lower elevations ; just beginning to show hints of color. Weekend weather According to the extended forecast from the National Weather Service, the county will be graced with a seasonable fall Weekend. Skies will be partly to mostly sunny, with temperatures in the mid-70s. Nighttime lows will drop into the mid-50s.
