ties, are on the fringes of expanding cities, and others are in the Tidewater and far southwest parts of the state. The Administrative Review team will be in the county in late November, at the same time the visiting committee is in the high school Most of the work on the high school’s self study has been done and is being typed. English teacher Roger Flinchum was put in charge of the self study last year and committees started work. Most teachers served on three committees. “It helped us to understand other departments,” English teacher Beth Briggs said. “I was on the Special Education committee. I learned a lot about Special Ed. You get an in depth look at another department.” Mr. Flinchum explained that each committee started with a checklist of questions to answer. Then it had to prepare a narrative and note strengths and weaknesses in each area. The five members of the visiting committee will each get a copy when they arrive. They will have three days to “check each report for accuracy,” Mr. Flinchum said. “Sometimes they find strengths we don’t, and sometimes they find weaknesses we didn’t. When they leave, they have to have a printed report ready. ” Then the School Board will get both reports, he explained. After five years, the School Board is expected to submit a followup report on what has been done about the changes recommended, Mr. Flinchum said.
