Carolyn J. Gorman
Carolyn Jo Gorman, 44, died at Annaburg Manor in Manassas January 12, from complications following aneurysm surgery at George Washington University Hospital in October.
Mrs. Gorman was Executive Director of the Rappahannock-Rapidan Community Services Board from 1980 until the time of her death. Prior to her appointment as Executive Director, she had served as Director of the RRCSB Mental Health Center.
Before moving to Virginia, she was an adjunct faculty member of the Department of Psychiatry, University of South Florida College of Medicine, and Director of Outpatient Services for the Northside Community Mental Health Center in Tampa.
She was born in Toledo, Ohio, graduated from the University of Toledo, and did postgraduate work in psychology and social work at McGill University in Montreal and at the University of Toledo.
She was a member of the NAACP and the American Civil Liberties Union.
She is survived by her husband, Lawrence; daughters, Rachel and Elsbeth, both of Warrenton; son, Aidan of Warrenton; sister, LoRee Hinds of Toledo.
Funeral arrangements are private. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to the Rappahannock-Rapidan Community Services Center in Culpeper.
