Commonwealth’s Attorney Peter Luke is investigating a cross burning on Rt. 626 in Tiger Valley outside Washington Monday evening.
According to Mr. Luke, the question he must answer is “whether it was a malicious act or done as a prank in extremely bad taste?”
An intent to intimidate is the standard under which cross-burning becomes a crime in Virginia, he explained. “We are still looking into whether it was actually a crime.”
