Bonnie Williams, music instructor at Wakefield School, took her prep school music theory and literature class earlier this month to a concert of the National Symphony Orchestra. The concert, “Rebel With a Cause,” featured composers who pushed back the frontiers of music in their times — Stravinsky, Mozart, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Sibelius and Prokofiev. One of the symphony’s Meet the Orchestra concerts, the program at the Kennedy Center was especially helpful to the class, which is studying different periods of music, Mrs. Williams said.
