Governor Wilder made it clear during his well-received “Son df Virginia” inagural address that he has no intention of being a caretaker governor presiding over an ailing economy. ,
Social justice will undoubtedly pe one of his major concerns. He saiain his speech, “Resources employed in the past for the finer things in life can be — and will have to be — deployed for the more serious of our needs. For we know that freedom is but a word for the man or woman who needs and cannot find a job.”
But even in his optimistic words, he alluded to the “enormity of the task” he faces in a state with so many needs that must be addressed. So now Douglas Wilder will get his wish, he will be judged not on the color of his skin but the content of his administration. And now that the ball is over, all the hard work begins.
