Library closes
to begin move
next weekend

The Rappahannock Library’s long-awaited date is next week when it will close Saturday, June 8 to prepare for reopening at the new building Monday, June 24.
Dieter Knuepfer has agreed to organize the move, according to the Library Board’s William Young.
“He has lined up volunteers with trucks, but he might need more packers,” Dr. Young added.
He also announced that library assistant Dee Brents has resigned as of June 5 and that new librarian Mary Lynch will start June 3.
He said Mark Malik, a retired park service landscape architect, has agreed to head the landscaping committee.
Dr. Young has asked board members to try to find someone to head a committee to plan the formal opening of the new library. The formal opening date hasn’t been determined.
There will also be a ceremony July 4 for the formal transfer of the title of the current library building to the town of Washington for its new Town Hall, Dr. Young said.
Earlier in the day the library will hold its annual book sale at the current building, and donations of used books are being solicited.
