4 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Huntington, West Virginia from complications of pneumonia. She had been in declining health for several years and was a resident at Purley’s N ursing Home in Coal Grove, Lawrence County since January of this year.
Miss Baldwin was bom near Willow Wood, Lawrence County, Ohio on Nov. 12, 1898. She was the daughter of the late John Allen Baldwin Jr. and the late Chloe Tull Baldwin. She was the last member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by five sisters and three brothers.
Survivors include a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Interment was at Pleasent View Cemetery. Hall Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
On March 29, after some extensive research, Wayne Baldwin of Leon, had made a trip to Ohio to visit with Effie. Miss Baldwin's great-grandfather Allen Baldwin, was also Wayne’s ancestor. Allen Baldwin formerly of Culpeper and Rappahannock counties had migrated to Putnam County, West Vir ginia shortly after 1835. Having married his second wife, Melinda Wilson, not much contact was kept with the Virginia branch of the family. Allen and Melinda’s grandson John A. Baldwin Jr. had gone to Ohio from Putnam County.
