In measures of educating elementary school students, Rappahannock scored among the top 25 percent of school systems in fourthgrade students above the median on standardized tests and the small percentage of fourth-graders overage in grade.
The county scored in the bottom 25 percent in the percentage passing physical fitness tests. The county was again in the middle among school systems in the percentage passing the literacy passport the first time and in attendance.
In measurements of educating middle school students, those in sixth throuth eighth grade, the county was among the top 25 percent in attendance, but in the bottom 25 percent in the percentage of students and minority students taking a foreign language in eighth grade.
The county schools scored in the middle 50 percent in the percentage of students and minority students taking algebra in eighth grade, the percentage in the top 75 percent and above the median on standardized tests, and the percentage passing physical fitness tests.
In measurements related to educating secondary students, Rappahannock scored in the top 25 percent in the percentage passing physical fitness tests and in the bottom 25 percent for attendance. County high school students were in the middle 50 percent in the percentage above 75 percent and above the median among eleveth graders on standardized tests and on dropout rates.
If Rappahannock scores are compared, not with scores from around the state, but only with scores from the surrounding school systems (Page, Warren, Fauquier, Culpeper and Madison counties), the results are similar.
