cil voted to participate in Planning District 9’s Solid Waste Disposal Plan, but the supervisors are unhappy about the cost.
This year the county is supposed to budget $3,600 for its share of PD9 costs for assistance in recycling. This is to cover reporting to Richmond on the county’s recycling efforts, helping to find markets for recyclables and efforts to educate the public to participate.
Mr. McCarthy said all he wanted from the planning district was the report for Richmond. Col. Bingham agreed, saying he would inform the county of any markets for recyclables he found through his work in Fauquier, and the county did not need newspaper articles produced by PD-9.
They felt the report was needed but not worth $3,600. Mr. McCarthy said the county could drop out of POO’S program after one year.
Several members of the Town Council also weren’t happy with the plan, saying it does not accurately reflect recycling activities in town.
